2003-09-16 Next Wave of Tour Dates is announced as New Album Released
A Perfect Circle, described by Rolling Stone as "that rare supergroup... of veteran musicians that actually adds up to more, not less, than the sum of its parts," announces their next round of concert dates and releases their much-anticipated second album in stores today. THIRTEENTH STEP, propelled by its first single, "Weak and Powerless."† The song has jumped to #3 Alternative and #7 Active Rock on both the Mediabase and BDS charts.

The countdown now begins toward the first leg of A Perfect Circle's 2003 arena tour, opening on Halloween in San Antonio. The upcoming itinerary follows a wildly successful (and very exclusive) two week warm-up tour of clubs around the country in late-July/August, followed by a round of Lollapalooza dates during that tour's final week out West in late-August (at which APC replaced Queens Of the Stone Age).†

A Perfect Circle, whose "winding, off-kilter rhythms and contrapuntal guitar riffs" are praised in Entertainment Weekly magazine's current issue, introduced new member James Iha (former guitarist of Smashing Pumpkins) into the lineup during their late-summer shows. He joined core members Maynard James Keenan, Billy Howerdel, Jeordie White (previously known as Twiggy Ramirez), and drummer Josh Freese.

At their recent New York show, Variety commented on Keenan's "sacrificing conventional interaction in order to present a set of tunes - drawn evenly from the band's Mer De Noms and the upcoming Virgin release THIRTEENTH STEP - shrouded in experimental theater darkness."† "A Perfect Circle hardly seems like a supergroup," noted the New York Post. "But it is." Five nights later at the Metro in Chicago the Tribune cheered "the latest recruits in an all-star cast that sounded remarkably tight and appeared to have genuine chemistry."
